Hi, I’m Jess — and if you’ve ever spent twenty minutes scrolling through a Facebook group trying to figure out whether a turnout rug is actually worth the money, then you already know why I started Ebby Equestrian.
I’ve been riding for over fifteen years. I’ve evented, showjumped, hacked through every kind of weather the British countryside can throw at you, and spent more money than I’d like to admit on kit that didn’t live up to the hype. And every time I went looking for honest, structured reviews of equestrian products, I hit the same wall: sponsored blog posts that read like adverts, forum threads full of conflicting opinions, and magazine reviews that felt like they’d never actually taken the product out of the box.
I knew there had to be a better way.
That’s the whole idea behind Ebby. Every product we review is tested in the field — literally. Rain, mud, frost, the lot. We put rugs through full winters, boots through cross-country sessions, and supplements through proper long-term trials. Nothing gets a score until it’s been properly put through its paces.
We don’t accept payment for positive reviews. We don’t let brands dictate what we say. If something’s brilliant, we’ll tell you. If it’s overpriced or under-delivers, we’ll tell you that too. Our job is to help you spend smarter — not to sell you something.
Ebby was the name of my first horse — a scruffy, opinionated, 14.2hh Welsh Cob who taught me more about riding than any instructor ever did. She had zero tolerance for nonsense, strong opinions about everything, and an uncanny ability to find the muddiest part of any field within seconds. This site is named after her because she embodied everything we stand for: honest, no-nonsense, and a little bit stubborn about quality.
Thanks for being here. We hope Ebby helps you find the right kit, avoid the duds, and spend a bit more time enjoying your horse — and a bit less time wondering if that fly spray actually works.
